History
Almost Skateboards is a company that operates under Dwindle Distribution. Almost Skateboards was started in 2003 by pro skaters Rodney Mullen, John Paul Talara, Daewon Song and Kenon Sangalang.
Almost Skateboards making decks using a 7-ply, 8-ply and combination of wood with carbon fiber constructions. They use Resin epoxy glue. Constructions that using carbon fiber are Über Light, Impact Support and Double Impact.
Carbon construction decks
- The Über Light is a 7-ply Resin deck that contains a carbon deck with a foam core inside, it gives a board more strength, lightness and rigidness in comparing to a regular wood deck. Only 500 Über Light boards (they were called Über Experimental) were made when they were first produced but now are regularly manufactured. This construction was created by Rodney Mullen and it is his signature deck which he rides since Experimental model (circa 2007).
- The Impact Support is a 8-ply Resin deck that uses die cut carbon fiber discs, inserted in the 8th ply around the truck mounting areas to prevent pressure cracks in the traditional breaking points of a skateboard deck. They are lighter and stronger than Almost Resin 7 and 8 decks. Impact Supports are covered by a 30 day warranty.
- The Double Impact series was released in 2010. They have carbon fiber discs (such as Impact Support) but have Resin 6 construction and a carbon top sheet. These boards have all the benefits of Impact Support models but are lighter and stronger. Double Impacts covered by a 45 day warranty.
